Policy for visitors to this site

This policy covers the information we collect about you, our security agreement and your rights.

The University of Edinburgh (the “University”, “us” or “we”) is committed to preserving your privacy. Please read the following privacy policy to understand how we use and protect the information obtained from those visiting the PeaceRep website, peacerep.org.

 

Information we collect, how we use it, and with whom we share it:

IP addresses

We may collect information where available about your IP address, operating system and browser type. This is data about users’ browsing actions and patterns. It is used to inform improvements to the website, for system administration, and to report aggregate information to third parties.

Cookies

This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping baskets, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics.

The tool we use most consistently is Google Analytics. Anonymous data about your visit is collected and amalgamated with that of other visitors so we can better understand how people use our website.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

peacerep.org is powered by WordPress. Electronic communications

The University of Edinburgh uses DotDigital as a secure email communication service. If you sign up to receive our newsletter via email, your details (email address and name) will be held by the PeaceRep team and the University of Edinburgh for the purpose of communicating with you. You can unsubscribe from this service at any time.

Security:

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is never completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security data transmitted to our website. Any transmission is at your own risk.

 

Automated decision making:

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes.  A human decision maker will always be involved before any decision is reached in relation to you.

 

Changes to our privacy policy:

We may amend this policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes we will notify you by posting a prominent notice on the website.
