Research + Data
Reimagining peace and transition processes amid changing conflict landscapes
As a consortium of partners and local research teams, we work to understand peace and transition process dilemmas across the Middle East, East and North Africa, and Asia.
Our research responds to a changing conflict context, to support peace and transition processes to innovate and adapt. Our data-driven, comparative research examines the major trends and shifts in the post-1990 peace and transition process landscape. We combine conceptual data-driven quantitative research with detailed field work undertaken by local research networks in countries that are experiencing active armed conflict and peace/transition processes.
Our PA-X Peace Agreements Database contains over 2000 peace agreements signed since 1990. PA-X data underpins a suite of digital tools to support research and practice, including visualisations, dashboards, interactive timelines, infographics, and the PeaceFem app on women’s inclusion in peace processes. In addition, we collect local survey data in South Sudan and Syria.
