PeaceRep collaborator Adeng Andrew Malual Leek appointed to South Sudan ministry

PeaceRep collaborator Adeng Andrew Malual Leek has been appointed Undersecretary in South Sudan’s National Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare. PeaceRep warmly congratulates Adeng on her appointment.

Adeng has contributed to several PeaceRep events and panel discussions linked to the South Sudan Public Perceptions of Peace Survey in Juba. Most recently, she participated in the PeaceRep closing event in Edinburgh in March 2026.

A Chevening Fellow, Adeng is currently completing a Master’s degree in International Human Rights Law at the University of Sussex. Her appointment took her by surprise, yet it reflects her long-standing record of engagement in women’s rights advocacy and civil society activism in South Sudan, as well as extensive experience in peacebuilding programme management across both national and international organisations.

With teaching at Sussex already completed for the academic year, Adeng is able to assume her new role in Juba while continuing toward the completion of her degree programme.
