Indo-Pacific Minister Praises PeaceRep’s Support for Global Peace Processes on Visit to...

As Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Indo-Pacific, Minister West took the opportunity to speak with PeaceRep researchers about our ongoing research in Myanmar, where the programme has convened discussions with researchers and stakeholders. PeaceRep researchers shared findings and recommendations from a new policy brief on pathways ahead for Myanmar.

As a global leader in PeaceTech innovation, PeaceRep also shared highlights of our data and digital tools to support conflict resolution policy and practice. PeaceRep researchers introduced the PA-X Peace Agreements Database, the most expansive collection of peace agreements data in the world, and demonstrated the PA-X Tracker, our newest tool offering data-driven insights into peace process implementation and monitoring. The Tracker allows users to understand how peace processes are unfolding, who is involved in them, and what impact the processes have had on a range of institutional, political, economic, humanitarian and security indicators.

The Minister commented on the importance of PeaceRep’s research and data-driven insights which provide “an invaluable resource for researchers and peace practitioners alike”.

PeaceRep’s Interim Principal Investigator Prof Andrew Lang and Managing Director (Research) Tim Epple thanked the FCDO for their continued support and funding of PeaceRep’s research.

Head of Edinburgh Law School Professor Jo Shaw welcomed PeaceRep’s contribution to supporting peace processes through comparative research. Christina Boswell, Professor of Politics and Vice-Principal Research and Enterprise at the University of Edinburgh, praised PeaceRep for harnessing data, digital methods, and artificial intelligence for the public good – one of the core missions set out in the University’s Research and Innovation Strategy.
