Yemen

How is the peace and conflict nexus with Covid-19 shaping the responses of local actors and systems of local governance in Yemen?

In this project, Robert Wilson will work to build from initial blog-writing with a young Yemeni researcher, to widen and deepen understanding of the impact of Covid-19 on conflict and transition process in Yemen. This work will extend initial desk-based research with in-country interviews with civil society actors and health professionals, to understand the Covid-19-transition relationship, and the ways in which the conflict and pro-peace interventions such as the ceasefire call impact on humanitarian responses to the pandemic. Strand I: Covid-19 Peace and Transition Processes

This project is part of Strand I of our work with the Covid Collective, in which we are researching how Covid-19 and pandemic responses are affecting peace process dynamics, modalities, and prospects for successful mediation among the main conflict actors, at national and local levels, with a particular focus on South Sudan, Yemen and Syria.
