Reintroducing PA-X: Peace Agreements Database Updated to Version 9 with 89 New Agreements
What’s New in Version 9?
Expanded Coverage:
The April 2025 update adds 89 new agreements, including both historical documents and agreements signed through the end of 2024. These newly included agreements span diverse contexts and phases of conflict resolution. They underscore the diversity of peacemaking efforts – with a variety of agreement signatory types and addressing multiple levels of armed conflict, from the local to the internationalised.
Many of the new additions come from Colombia, where 22 new agreements were signed in 2024, in a revival of the peace process that seeks to build on the 2016 comprehensive peace agreement.
This new data feeds into many of our innovative PeaceTech tools, including the new PA-X Tracker Globe, an interactive tool that shows where peace agreements were signed in 2024, alongside the estimated number of conflict-related fatalities in each country.
Enhanced Search Functionality:
PA-X V9 introduces an improved, more intuitive search interface. From the same page, users can now:
- Conduct simple searches, for example by country or issue
- Apply advanced filters such as agreement stage, peace process, or type of conflict
- Export a custom subset of agreements based on selected filters, or access the full dataset from the downloads page

Updated PA-X Gender Dataset:
The PA-X Gender dataset—focusing on agreements that reference women, girls, gender, or sexual violence—has also been updated to include 28 new agreements, bringing the total to 465.
Recent additions feature significant agreements from Colombia, Sudan, and South Sudan signed in 2024, including eight agreements from Colombia alone.
Updated PA-X Local Dataset:
The only known database of its kind, PA-X Local is subset of agreements included in the PA-X database that deal in some way with local issues, involve local actors, and deal with forms of local/communal violent conflict.
Agreements span the period from 1990 to the end of 2024, and while not exhaustive, form a collection of 367 local agreements from around the globe, with 18 new agreements in this update of PA-X Local.
