PSRP’s Programme Director, Christine Bell, writes about designing the most effective responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in impoverished, conflict-affected regions.

Just Security has published a blog by PSRP Director Christine Bell, on the ways in which conflict, peace processes and COVID-19 responses can be expected to affect each other. She argues the while crisis affects conflict in unpredictable ways, and vice versa, some of the dynamics can be predicted and planned for. The blog argues for conflict sensitive approaches to health interventions, and an approach to delivering healthcare responses also with an eye on the opportunities for peace.

The article offers 11 baseline understandings that are likely to be key in designing the most effective responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in conflict-affected regions.
