Understanding Armed Group Proliferation in the Eastern Congo
This briefing paper is an output of PSRP’s work in DRC, by Rift Valley Institute. It is part of a series of briefing papers, blogs and reports on political settlements and armed actors, based on a case study of the DRC.
Policy points:
• The armed group landscape in eastern Congo is increasingly fragmented.
• There is a need to devise policies focusing primarily on armed groups and their political-economic support networks. This should be accompanied by army reform and measures addressing conflict dynamics.
