Mohamad al-Ashmar
Humanitarian professional and development scholar-practitioner with 14 years of experience in international development, humanitarian response, and civil society sectors across the MENA region. He has led projects, assignments, and missions for UN agencies, INGOs, and donors, focusing on social protection, peacebuilding, stabilization, emergency response, and programs supporting refugees, displaced populations, and conflict-affected communities. Mohamad is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the University of St Andrews, researching diaspora politics, forced migration, the political economy of the MENA region, humanitarianism, and the politics of foreign aid. He has also held research roles and fellowships at institutions including the European University Institute and the Syrian Centre for Policy Research.
